My name is Alisi and I am Tongan. I am super focused on my work and very close to my family. I am also super fun and silly. Growing up, I wanted to be an attorney. Everybody used to always tell me – Alisi you’re so smart, you should be an attorney. How many of you were told the same thing, right? But… that didn’t work out.
If I could do it all again, I would definitely have a job that involved traveling the world. Although there is an element of traveling in my current job as a Commercial Realtor in LA. But it’s not the same as traveling the world…
Misconceptions? Hm. One of the misconceptions society needs to get over is the 40-hour work week, perhaps more holiday time like they do it in Europe. I think some people would work more efficiently if they had more time for the things they wanted to do. It’s about getting the balance right. Which brings me to say that the lesson I would give to my younger self is to work hard and save money. Save money. Save money. I truly wish I’d known that when I was younger!
Going through life and its ups and downs, I have learned to look at every day as if it’s my last and take everything with a pinch of salt. Having battled with rheumatoid arthritis and experiencing first-hand how it can take everything away from you, I am most proud of the fact I am still alive and still able to get around. It’s a miracle that I have gone through what I have gone through and I am still kicking, dancing in the rain, loving all and always laughing. I think my faith in the Lord is what inspires me to keep going.
My dream would be to have a family of my own. To get married and have kids. But life doesn’t always work out the way you plan it. I have accepted that. Through all the hills and valleys of this journey of life, I stand strong. People can get so bitter and so jaded, I never wanted to be like that.
